About this Website

Why I Created this Website

Welcome to this website! This is where we explore health and healing in all its dimensions.  It represents a very personal perspective that has evolved over these past 20+ years as an internal medicine physician, researcher, and engineer.

As soon as I graduated from medical school, I realized that clinical medicine and even research (as they are formally defined now) did not satiate my thirst for broader knowledge.  Much about modern medicine is about staying in a safe space – driven by consensus, wary of risks, and bounded by prevailing paradigms – and yet so much about health and healing remains unexplored.

My curiosity led me to explore “alternative” therapies, to learn biological engineering and biophysics, to investigate systems approaches to medicine, to understand the philosophies and foundations underlying sciences, and to even dabble in metaphysics.

These experiences – along with my ongoing clinical work and research activities – have shaped my worldview and have guided me to play in a space just beyond the boundaries of conventional science but not so far out that only speculation  becomes the sole currency of contemplation.

This exploratory space that lies immediately outside the charted territory of conventional medicine is where we will play; we will navigate this space by taking and integrating lessons learned from multiple disciplines that do not traditionally mix.  Of course, a little creativity and openness for exploration do not hurt either.

The point of this website is to chronicle some of my explorations, document my thoughts, help crystallize the ideas, and possibly push health sciences a little out of its comfort zone.  At the same time, as a clinician, I am ultimately driven by practical results and thus aim to ground these thought exercises in real-world individual cases, health conditions, and experimental models.  There may be times when I am wrong, but if we begin looking occasionally outside the box as a result, it’s all worth it in my mind.
